Trout Fishing in the Winter With Proper Clothes

Thu, 03/05/2009 - 15:07 -- jmaslar
  1. Be sure that you dress in layers.   I use fleece garmets because they are warm, light and can be discarded if you fall in.
  2. Fleece igarments are easy to remove and pack if you become too warm.
  3. If fly fishing, it is adviseable to wear shirts with pockets for fly boxes, etc.
  4. In cold weather it is adviseable to wear insulated underware.
  5. In warm weather, wear light airey clothes that breathe.
  6. Expect rain especially if fishing in the mountains as thunder storms arise quickly.  I keep a "rain parker in a pouch" tied to my waist.
  7. Wear a hat to provide shade in summer and to conserve  heat in the winter.
  8. In winter wear warm boots; in summer wear good hiking shoes, and always wear good comfortable socks.
  9. Also, in winter wear gloves to keep your hands warm.  eoprene is a good choice while fishing.
  10.   Remember, there are disposable hand warmers and the more durable fuel fired handwarmers are available.
