Brown Trout State Record Caught on Chattahoochee

Chad Doughty of Winder was below the Buford Dam on the Hooch and had just started to fish from his kayak when he hooked th monster. Since he had a Rooster Tail with a six pound line on a small spinning reel, he had a major fight on his hands. In fact, he had to get out of the kayak and run down his prize for some 45 minutes before he land it.

Fishing in Small Ponds

While we at the Troutprostore prefer trout fishing especially the native trout found in the beautiful cold clear streams, we do fish in ponds when we are unable to trout fish for some reason. Also, in the mountains, there are some ponds that provide habitat for trout and there are some ponds in cities where some trout are stocked in the winter months.

When choosing a bait, lure of fly, you obviously need to select the one that provides the best odds for success. In most situations, there is a certain bait, lure or fly that you could use that would that would provide the highest odds of success. When you are choosing a fly to use for trout, you should select one that best imitates the food that is most available and most plentiful for the trout to eat at that point in time.
