While many trout fishers talk in depth about matching the hatch, having drag free presentations, how to roll cast, etc., the trout don't really understand (or appreciate) such sophistication in many cases.  Below are three videos that show simple trout fishing methods that work.

When I started to fish for trout, I had no guidance so I struggled along the stream in Gatlinburg Tenn, using corn with a Zebco rod and reel.  I had seen other fishermen using corn as bait on that very same stream. It seem ridiculous to me to use corn, since fish are not vegetarians, but it did work.

Inexpensive Family Vacation - Family Camping And Trout Fishing

With the economy sputtering, many people are looking for inexpensive family vacations.  One great (and relatively inexpensive) way to spend some time as a family is to go on a family camping and trout fishing trip.  I had a chance to do just that with my wife and three year old daughter last weekend.  (See the embedded video of our trip below.  Also, see our class on Fishing With Kids.)  We went to Catawba Falls Campground near Old Fort,

Trout Fishing Vacation

The trout streams are overflowing from a huge rainfall, so yes, I took a day of vacation today with no Trout University business, not even reading the mail.  The reason that I gave up trout fiahing is that I got to spend the day with our youngest grand child, Emma Mae.  She is four years old and the only time that I can sit down is while she is asleep which is only about one hour each day.
